About Amy
In my art practice, I am interested in our interior spaces – places that seem both detached yet highly personal. They hold the happenings of our lives with quiet, unbounded willingness. And we, in turn, fill our spaces with color and life. It is a give-give relationship. In painting these daily domestic scenes, I search for Metaphor and Lesson to arise from the work, reaching for memory and narrative equally. My paintings are a form of slow art, where one is rewarded for looking carefully. This creates an experience between the viewer and the work, inviting a beautiful dance of invisible motion. I invite the viewer to meditate on the seemingly trivial and mundane, and see instead a higher Purpose.
